7 7:04 Replacement teachers who are required to attend continuing education sessions are entitled to the same travel, food and accommodation allowances for regular teachers. Participation in these meetings is paid. 7:05 When recruiting temporary jobs during the school year, the employer takes into account candidates on the employer`s replacement list before considering candidates from the community. The qualification, ability and suitability of candidates for the task must be taken into account in the first place. The employer can also take into account the needs of students and the importance of continuity of teaching. 7:06 The employer must not interrupt the service of a substitute to refuse a fixed-term contract. 7:07 A substitute instructor who: a) a) worked ten (10) or more consecutive in the same task; (b) is absent after one day of teaching for illness, family illness, funeral leave or act of Canada, Prince Edward Island law or prescription; and returns to the same assignment, the day of the absence must not constitute an interruption of service for the purposes of qualifying for a fixed-term contract. 7:08 Non-training days during which a replacement must work are a qualification service for a fixed-term contract. 7:09 Substitute teachers must not suffer a loss of pay due to a delay in the opening or early closure of the school to which they have been assigned.
